Message from Your President
Wednesday, January 18, 2017
Welcome to the 40th year of IONL! We will be celebrating this milestone anniversary for our organization throughout 2017, including a special celebration at the Annual Meeting in September. As your new Board President, I am thrilled to greet all of our new and returning members as well as the new 2017 Board, with Executive Committee President-Elect, Frank Bradtke; Secretary, Jennifer Grenier; Treasurer, Deborah S. Davisson, and Past President, Corinne Haviley. Many thanks to the outgoing 2016 Board members, Ann Gantzer, Barb Gobel, Denise Jackson, and Nancy Weston for all their hard work this past year.
The IONL has developed a strategic plan for 2017 that will guide us in advancing leadership, engaging membership, encouraging policy and advocacy and focusing on sustainability and growth. In the coming year, we will be providing many more opportunities for Illinois nurses to learn and develop professionally as leaders. We have a robust new schedule of educational programming, including two new offerings, a Finance Workshop and the return of the Lunch and Learn webinar series. Many of our other programs are returning to our education schedule, including our Mid-Year and Annual conferences, as well as the Charge Nurse Workshop and the NC-3 Webinars. For a full list of upcoming events and opportunities, visit our Educational Events page.
Engaging and growing our membership base among nurse leaders of all specialties will be crucial this year as we seek to promote collaboration and networking among our members. We are bringing together a Past Presidents Advisory Committee to help us with this task, and working with the Member Engagement Committee to recognize dedicated nurse leaders and their contributions to the IONL and the nursing community.
We want to leverage the power of the IONL membership to raise the voice of nursing leadership in all health policy related issues in Illinois, and we’ll do this by providing specific training and information to our members as well as close work with the IHA. We want to move forward on a strong foundation into our 40th year and beyond, so we will be striving to achieve our budget and increase revenue growth.
Thanks again for your continued support of IONL, and I’m looking forward to meeting you at our Mid-Year Conference in Peoria on April 21, and at our Annual Conference in Lisle, September 21-22.
