To provide the nurse leader with information and tools to use with their staff to identify potentially threatening situations before they escalate.

Program Objectives

  • Provide an overview of current trends in the prevention of healthcare workplace violence
  • Identify cues that alert the nurse before a potential situation escalates
  • Utilize tools and practices that will defuse a potentially threatening situation and protect others
  • Discuss the role of the nurse leader and nurse with regard to pre-empting and handling potential threatening situations
