A Message to Our Members Regarding COVID-19
Wednesday, March 18, 2020
The current situation with COVID-19 has put a huge strain on the IONL community and the healthcare system as a whole. Our thoughts go out to our members, their personal and professional families, and patients as we confront this pandemic. Directives and priorities are changing on a daily basis and IONL defers to the local, regional and national recommendations
as to the management of COVID-19 and prioritization of healthcare needs.
IONL recognizes that this is a tumultuous time for our members. Our nursing community may be asked to do tasks that are out of their normal scope of practice. We recognize that many normal rites of passage and important opportunities will be changing or canceled, like conferences and presentations.
We urge our members and the nursing community to recognize the strain that will occur with these changes and to continue to support our healthcare community in an inclusive manner. We know the power of our community, the strength of our nurses and healthcare leaders, and our ability to be resilient in the face of this adversity.
Based on the recent feedback on COVID-19, we are evaluating our upcoming educational programming and will be issuing an update soon on the April-May regional events. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Please feel free to reach out to us
with any ideas that you may have to support our community during this time.
