What do you do in your role as Clinical Informatics Specialist?
I oversee change management for Inpatient and Emergency Department Order Sets in the Electronic Medical Record System across four hospitals.
You participated in the very first class of the IONL/IHAC nursing leadership fellowship. What was that like?
As a member of the first class of the IONL/IHAC nursing leadership fellowship, I had an
opportunity to further develop leadership skills in a unique and
supportive environment. The fellowship used a variety of methods which
involved seminar instruction, role playing, group reflection and real
world project implementation. Our team members were able to better
identify strategies for use in conflict resolution and negotiation because of this program.
Through roleplaying with our peers we received immediate feedback and
coaching that allowed us to excel in our organizations. The unique
blend of industry and academic faculty shared insights that inspired us
to seek more from ourselves to drive change in the profession and healthcare

I've had a chance to use several of the competencies from
the fellowship as my role evolves at my organization. The year-long

I also serve as Treasurer of American Nurses Association Illinois, and as an adjunct Clinical
Instructor at Loyola University Chicago and on the leadership workgroup of the Illinois Healthcare Action Coalition.
