Committee Descriptions

Annual Conference Committee

The Annual Conference Committee is responsible for ensuring that IONL’s mission is reflected in the programming of the Annual Conference. The committee is responsible for identifying the educational needs of the membership and creating quality, value-added programs to enhance the membership’s knowledge, professionalism and business acumen. Time Commitment: One one-hour meeting per month virtually. There is also work in between meetings that may be assigned as needed.

Continuum of Care Committee

The Continuum of Care Committee serves as a conveyor for networking, dialogue and supportive programming for leaders across the continuum.

Education Committee

The Education Committee is responsible for securing content and speakers for the Knowledge Exchange Series workshops, Aspiring Nurse Leader Workshop, Finance Workshop, and Fellowship program. Time Commitment: One one-hour per month virtually. There is also work in between meetings that may be assigned as needed.

Policy & Advocacy Committee

Identifies major policy issues to monitor and what steps can be taken to alert and advise members. Oversees IONL’s legislative activities and develops resources for members (e.g. tool kits) to help members lobby successfully. Collaborates with the Illinois Health and Hospital Association on legislation impacting nursing practice and healthcare services. Time commitment: Monthly hour-long meetings in addition to time spent contacting legislators and advocating on behalf of IONL members and the broader nurse leader community in Illinois.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Initiative

Partners with appropriate entities to transform the nursing workforce into one that is more representative of the overall diverse population within Illinois, serving patients of various backgrounds.

Most Valuable Member Award

For this award, the individual should be an accomplished IONL member who exemplifies nurse-led initiatives that have positively impacted the nursing world. For this award, please describe an example (or examples) of how this person makes an impact on their community, facility or nursing profession, and what makes them a valuable member of IONL.

Mentorship Award Icon

Mentorship Award

For this award, the individual is seen as someone who champions a positive culture, builds trust and inspires others to always do their absolute best through the practices of advising, coaching, and communication, and is willing to provide feedback to allow others to perform at their best. 

Innovation Award Icon

Innovation in Healthcare Award

For this award, the individual best exemplifies nurse-led innovation that promotes patient safety and quality care delivery. The implementation of new or altered products, services, processes, systems and policies that aim to improve one or more domains of health care quality or reduce health care disparities should be explored and communicated throughout the care continuum. This nurse-led innovation can be a program, practice, project, or product; please provide examples.

Future of Nursing Award Icon

Future of Nursing Award

For this award, the individual should be a novice nurse leader or a new graduate who is interested in the leadership route within the profession of nursing that has taken it upon themselves to embrace the concepts surrounding transformational leadership. This individual should be seeking opportunities to help improve their skills, knowledge, and attitudes to grow as a leader within the profession. Participants in the Fellowship program are strongly encouraged to apply.
