The purpose of this panel presentation is to provide nurse leaders with information and tools to use for their staff to identify potentially threatening situations before they escalate.
Objectives:
1. Provide an overview of current trends in the prevention of healthcare workplace violence
2. Identify cues that alert the nurse before a potential situation escalates.
3. Utilize tools and practices that will diffuse a potentially threatening situation and protect others
4. Discuss the role of the nurse leader and nurse with regard to pre-empting and handling potential threatening situations
