Title: Health Information Technology - How Will Healthcare Change?
Description: The massive shifting that is occurring within healthcare as
i write this program overview will pale in comparison to the domino effect that
is likely to occur as a result of the addition of this critical piece of the
healthcare puzzle.
The current changes in healthcare information begins to put
into place those tools necessary for gathering and communicating health
information among a broad group of healthcare entities.
The 64,000,000,000.00 question is "then what”
That is where our discussion will take us. What
does the world of healthcare look like 5 years from now when the majority of
providers have access to and are meaningfully using an electronic health
record. Are patients playing a larger role in their healthcare decisions? Have
the roles of people and organizations changed from what we see as typical
today? Have the hoped for changes occurred as a rsult of rapid deployment of
electronic health records? Come and look into the "crystal ball” with us.
Objectives:
- Outline an overview and awareness of Regional
Extension Centers and ILHITREC.
- Identify the impact of Electronic Health Records
on providers, patients and healthcare in general.
