Why did you become a member of IONL?
I was very interested in finding an organization that offered leadership development programs and created professional networks outside of my organization. Additionally, I was interested in an organization that could help me stay on top of current issues in the nursing profession.
What about the nursing profession, interested you initially?
I felt very comfortable going into the nursing profession. I grew up with a brother who had been very ill as a child, so nursing seemed like a natural choice for me. I liked the idea of caring for people and helping be a part of healing the most.
What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of the job is problem solving. I like a challenge.
Tell us about yourself. What do you like to do outside of work?
I love going to the beach with my family, playing with my 10 year old son, riding my bike, and going antique shopping.
What benefits have you experienced since becoming a member of IONL?
I was fortunate enough to attend the IONL Fellowship and Midwest Institute for Nurse Leaders. These programs helped build my leadership skills and allowed me to progress in the workplace. I use the skills the skills I gained through IONL every day and feel they have made me more successful.
Why would you encourage others to participate in IONL?
I think IONL is committed to the nursing profession, and to the growth and development of nurse leaders.
